Please see below before starting searching for apartments. Required initial cost for rental contract in Japan,

1, There will be an initial cost when signing the contract, which usually amounts 5 to 6 months of the rent,  ones included in it are as follows.

・ Advance rent payments + Advance management fee or common service fee

・ Security deposit / key money (depending on the property, usually for one month's rent)

・ Guarantee company fee

・Fire insurance

・ Cleaning cost (usually offset from the security deposit)

・ Key exchange fee

・ Agency fee (1 month rent +  tax)

etc.

* Other costs may be required depending on the property and management company. We will confirm it when you apply.

2, An emergency contact 

For apartment contracts, expatriates or international students, the contact information of a family member living in Japan, a Japanese person, or a friend or colleague who resides permanently in Japan must be registered as an emergency contact. (Not a guarantor.)
